About this edition
Edition 1 launched our global tradition with 30 pioneering runners from 14 countries, establishing the foundation for what would become an incredible worldwide community. From coconut gelato rewards in Canada to midnight runs in Strasbourg, this inaugural edition covered over 172 kilometers and proved that amazing things happen when runners unite across time zones.

Voices from the Relay
Vienna Magic
Vienna, Austria
“Spotted today: runners, cyclists, walkers, horse riders (and a ghostly horse-drawn carriage), dogs, a baby reindeer, and a forest full of whispers and falling conkers. All magic ✨”
Midnight Onboarding Run
Strasbourg, France
“Midnight run in Strasbourg. Truth be told, more of a walk then a run, but then again, my dog is 9. Ok, it’s not fair to lay it all on her, I’m pretty rusty myself, but had a great time walk-running with you! Nice way to (almost) wrap up my onboarding!”
100-Runner Group Experience
Lyon, France
“Group run with an ‘urban trail’ route (with more than 100 runners tonight, a LOT of stop-n-go but it almost feels like you’re doing a race: people we cross that see a huge group of people running usually end up cheering us 🙂)”
Sub-8 Achievement
Corvallis, Oregon, USA
“I picked my flattest route so I could try and get sub 8 minute / mi splits, and I succeeded! Haven’t done that in years.”
